Book Seven, Chapter Seventeen Excerpt

Well hey readers! As I said, I am going to do a Harry Potter book excerpt tonight! This one is special though. Why? Well if you cannot recognize the above image, it is from Deathly Hallows. Yeah, that is right my very first Book Excerpt here on Potter's Army from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I hope you will enjoy the selection I have picked out for you tonight. Remember though that I do not own any of the rights to the following selection. Jo Rowling and all of her publisher's own the rights to this book. I am just putting it up here for a fun little excerpt once and awhile. So enjoy!

BOOK EXCERPT:

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS

CHAPTER 17 (starts on page 346)

BATHILDA'S SECRET

"We got away."
"Yes," said Hermione. "I had to use a Hover Charm to get you into your bunk, I couldn't lift you. You've been. . . Well, you haven't been quite. . . . ."
There were purple shadows under her brown eyes and he noticed a small sponge in her hand: She had been wiping her face.
"You've been ill," she finished. "Quite ill."
"How long ago did we leave?"
"Hours ago. It's nearly morning."
"And I've been. . . .what, unconscious?"
"Not exactly," said Hermione uncomfortably. "You've been shouting and moaning and . . . things," she added in a tone that made Harry feel uneasy. What had he done? Screamed cruses like Voldemort, cried like the baby in the crib?
"I couldn't get the Horcrux off you," Hermione said, and he knew she wanted to change the subject. "It was stuck, stuck to your chest. You've got a mark; I'm sorry, I had to use a Severing Charm to get it away. The snake bit you too, but I've cleaned the wound and put some dittany on it. . . ."
He pulled the sweaty T-shirt he was wearing away from himself and looked down. There was a scarlet oval over his heart where the locket had burned him. He could also see the hale-healed puncture marks to his forearm.
"Where've you put the Horcrux?"
"In my bag. I think we should keep it off for awhile."
He lay back on his pillows and looked into her pinched gray face.
"We shouldn't have gone to Godric's Hollow. It's my fault, it's all my fault, Hermione, I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault. I wanted to go too; I really thought Dumbledore might have left the sword there for you."
"Yeah well . . . we got that wrong, didn't we?"
"What happened Harry? What happened when she took you upstairs? Was the snake hiding somewhere? Did it just come out and kill her and attack you?"
"No," he said. "She was the snake. . . . or the snake was her. . . . all along."
"W-what?"
He closed his eyes. He could still smell Bathilda's house on him: It made the whole thing horribly vivid.
"Bathilda must've been dead a while. The snake was . . . was inside her. You-Know-Who put it there in Godric's Hollow, to wait. You were right. He knew I'd go back."
"The snake was inside her?"
He opened his eyes again: Hermione looked revolted, nauseated.
"Lupin said there would be magic we'd never imagined," Harry said. "She didn't want to talk in front of you, because it was Parseltongue, all Parseltongue, and I didn't realize, but of course I could understand her. Once we were up in the room, the snake sent a message to You-Know-Who, I heard it happen inside my head, I felt him get excited, he said to keep me there. . . and then . . ."
He remembered the snake coming out of Bathilda's neck: Hermione did not need to know the details.
". . . . she changed, changed into the snake, and attacked."
He looked down at the puncture marks.
"It wasn't supposed to kill me, just keep me there till You-Know-Who came."
If he only managed to kill the snake, it would have been worth it, all of it. . . . Sick at heart, he sat up and threw back the covers.
"Harry, no, I'm sure you ought to rest!"
"You're the one who need sleep. No offense, but you look terrible. I'm fine. I'll keep watch for a while. Where's my wand?"
She did not answer, she merely looked at him.
"Where's my wand, Hermione?"
She was biting her lip, and tears swam in her eyes.
"Harry. . ."
"Where's my wand?"
She reached down beside the bed and held it out to him.
The holly and phoenix wand was nearly severed in two. One being fragile strand of phoenix feather kept both pieces hanging together. The wood had splintered apart completely. Harry took it into his hands as though it was a living thing that had suffered a terrible injury. He could not think properly: Everything was a blur of panic and fear. Then he held out the wand to Hermione.
"Mend it. Please."
"Harry, I don;t think, when it's broken like this-"
"Please, Hermione, try!"
"R-Reparo."

The dangling half of the wand resealed itself. Harry held it up.
"Lumos!"
The wand sparked feebly, then went out. Harry pointed it at Hermione.
"Expelliarmus!"
Hermione's wand gave a little jerk, but did not leave her hand. The feeble attempt at magic was too much for Harry's wand, which split into two again. He stared at it, aghast, unable to take in what he was seeing. . . . the wand that had survived so much. . . ."
"Harry," Hermione whispered so quietly he could hardly hear her. "I'm so, so sorry. I think it was me. As we were leaving, you know, the snake was coming for us, and so I cast a Blasting Curse, and it rebounded everywhere, and it must have-must have hit-"
"It was an accident," said Harry mechanically. He felt empty, stunned. "We'll-we'll find a way to repair it."
"Harry, I don't think we're going to be able to," said Hermione, the tears triclking down her face. "Remember . . . . remember Ron? When he broke his wand, crashing the car? It was never the same again, he had to get a new one."
Harry thought of Olivander, kidnapped and held hostage by Voldemort; of Gergorovitch, who was dead. How was he supposed to find himself a new wand?
"Well," he said, in a falsely matter-of-fact voice, "well, I'll just borrow yours for now, then. While I keep watch."
Her face glazed with tears, Hermione handed over her wand, and he left her sitting beside his bed, desiring nothing more than to get away from her.

Well I hope you all enjoyed this Book Excerpt Blog Post! I know it was quite longer than usual ones, but I thought it should be special since it's my last double digit Blog Post! I will do another post tonight, and it will be EXTREMELY special because it is my 100th Blog Post! :) So, make sure you tune in for that tonight! :D Thanks for reading Potter's Army again, never would be where I am today with the blog if it wasn't for all of you!

"I don't think I mention a graveyard!"

Hey readers. Sorry about the fact of no post earlier today, I have been busy at school (like always). I said though that I was going to do a couple of Blog Post's today, so here we go with the first one. Before I get to it though I would like to say that Potter's Army is approaching 100 Blog Posts. This Particular Post is the 98th Blog Post I have done here on Potter's Army, so lets get to this post shall we.

Now in this post I want to talk mainly about the graveyard scene in Goblet of Fire. What about it really can I talk about it? Well I know we all know what had happened there, but I want to briefly go over that scene because it has got to be my favorite scene in the Goblet of Fire movie, but I think it hits my top 10 favorite Harry Potter movie scenes. Well we all know that Harry had gotten to the Graveyard in the third task of the Triwizard Tournament. He and Cedric had made it to the cup, but it took them to the graveyard where Lord Voldemort and Wormtail were waiting for Harry. Cedric was killed by Wormtail on Voldemort's orders. Then Harry gets tied up to a statue/tombstone, and the Wormtail starts the incantation/potion thing. "Blood of the enemy!" That is where Harry is needed. Wormtail takes blood from Harry's arm by cutting it with the knife he had just used to cut of his own hand (movie). Lord Voldemort then rises once again. He has taken full body form once again. We all know this, and of course I didn't go into super detail there I just gave the brief overview of what had actually happened in the graveyard. Read Goblet of Fire for a more (and greater) detailed version of that part in the Harry Potter series. Actually read all of the books because they are amazing am I right? Anyway lets get back on subject here. Now what do I really wanna talk about the graveyard for? Well I want to discuss the importance of this scene really. Yes, I know we all know it is an important scene because this is where Lord Voldemort comes back. Well that isn't the importance I am talking about! Rewind four years. What would be today's date? February 2nd, 2007, before Deathly Hallows was out, and when we were giving guesses on if Snape was 'Good or Evil?' Remember those times, ah so long ago. Why did the time have to pass? Okay sorry got to get back on task. Yes so that is what I want to talk about Snape being good or bad. Not a lot to talk about with this graveyard scene, but it is what I want to talk about. I always thought Snape was Good, but I thought Dumbledore was never dead too. I will talk about this all another time though. So what about Snape and this scene. Well while I was waiting for Deathly Hallows I re-read the Harry Potter Books several times, and when I always got to the Graveyard scene here when Lord Voldemort talks to his Death Eaters. He says these words which made me think I was right in Snape being 'Good' like I thought he was, "One, too cowardly to return . . . he will pay." If you do not remember this part in the book, just go to page 650 of Goblet of Fire, this section can be found at the bottom of the page! When he says that though I thought he might be talking about Snape. Which might have been correct though, even though Snape did his apology to Voldemort that we learn about in Half-Blood Prince which makes us to believe he is 'Evil.' We never really know Snape's true fate until the end of Deathly Hallows! :( So yeah I just wanted to point out a significant section in Goblet of Fire, a detail someone could have overlooked. I am sure some of you all made that connection too.

Well, this was kind of a LookBack Post as I would like to call it. I will be doing some more of these kind of posts in the future I think. I know though that this post wasn't a very good one, but I thought I'd put it up here and let you all be the judge though! So, thanks for reading this post though. I hope you enjoyed it! Make sure you tune in tonight or later today for a Book Excerpt, and maybe another Blog Post. A book excerpt for sure though. Also make sure you email me at noahmarkbitney@gmail.com with questions, comments, suggestions, a PicPost, or your very own blog post! Thanks again for reading though, and I really hope you enjoyed this post even though it wasn't all that great! :D

Potter's Army Redesigned

Well hey readers!!! As I said I was going to at least but a Blog Post out about the new features today on February 1st of 2011. Every month I want to try and create a new theme for Potter's Army with some significant thing to do with the Harry Potter world. This month's I choose to do the books of Harry Potter. Well why didn't I choose the Blog Picture for this particular blog post to be a book cover or something? Well it has something to do with the new theme, a certain feature in this theme. I will get to that later though. So, you all know what this blog post is going to be about, it is going to be about the new theme of course. I will of course go back to my regular random Harry Potter thing's posts tomorrow. So lets get to it! :D

Well the first new feature I want to talk about is the flashback section. It is labeled as, A look back at Harry Potter book history. This feature is pretty self-explanatory. It will be updated daily now that I have my laptop at a fully mobile capability. It just is a daily basic flashback about anything that has happened in the past about the books. I am really hoping you will all like this. The next thing I want to talk about isn't really a new feature it's just changing a little bit for this month. The Quote of the Day section is normally a mix between Book and Harry Potter movie quotes. For just this month it is just going to be book quotes, since the main theme of Potter's Army this month is the books. Now another completely new feature that I have added is called the Chapter Image of the Day. It is a random Chapter Image (USA version) from the Harry Potter books, that will be updated daily, it is the Chapter Image of the Day! One special thing about this particular thing is that if you click on the image it takes you to another page on Potter's Army that is only assessable through this image, and on this page it shows you all (almost) of the images from that particular book that the Chapter Image of the Day is in. So, make sure you check that out. Now a really anticipated feature that has been added to the blog is the Potter's Army Facebook Page! I have had a lot of people asking if there was a page to 'Like' on Facebook for the blog, and I never had made one because I was running off of my iPad. Now, I have a laptop and there is a 'Like' Page on Facebook, the link for the Facebook Page is on the Potter's Army entertainment sidebars. So make sure you 'like' Potter's Army on Facebook. Another thing on the Facebook subject, there is a share bar for you to share Potter's Army to your Twitter Page or Facebook Page. Now another new little thing added is the Part One DVD countdown. I know not for the books, but that was just added today since the release date for Part One on DVD date was actually released today. Thought you might like that?

ANNNNNDDDD NOOWWW FOR THE LAST NEW FEATURE ON POTTER'S ARMY!!! As you might have noticed that the links on Potter's Army are green, and then whenever you 'hover' your cursor (laptops, and desktops only) over the link it turns blue. WHY IS THAT? IS THERE A REASONING BEHIND IT??? YES THERE IS!!!!! The green is for Harry's eyes in the book. He has green eyes, Jo has made that specifically clear in the books. BUT in the movie's, Danielle Radcliff has blue eyes (which is why I chose the image I chose). So, I made the links green and blue just to show the significance of Harry's eyes! Not really cool I know, but I thought it a neat feature to add.

Now thanks for reading about all the new features on Potter's Army. I am hoping you will enjoy them throughout this month. I would love to hear what you think about the new features, email me at noahmarkbitney@gmail.com with your thought's on them please. I want to hear your feedback. Make sure you email me though too with your own blog post you might have, a PicPost, questions about anything Harry Potter, or comments too. Again I am hoping you will enjoy the new features. If I add anything I will make sure to all let you know, and hey also remember to tune back in tomorrow for my back to regular posts! Thanks again for reading, and remaining loyal to Potter's Army.

P.S.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One DVD release date was released today! April 15th it is going to be released. I will talk about all of it tomorrow, if you want to know more about what features will be in the Blu-Ray Combo Pack, and the DVD features tune back in tomorrow, and for a Book Excerpt. Thanks again for reading! :D

A Bellatrix Lestrange PicPost

The craziest and dumbest person I've ever known in the wizarding world. I hate Bellatrix Lestrange's character (maybe that's a funny one, but whenever i see her on the movie.. I'm irritated. hahha) I've known Bellatrix for being so loyal to Lord Voldemort, but who thought that Mrs. Molly Weasley destroyed her, that's when she tried to kill Ginny. "You dare speak his name with your unworthy lips, you dare besmirch it with your half-blood's tongue, you dare.." the most unforgettable and worst line of hers to Potter, how dare she spoke to Potter like that. haha. But it's amazing how Helen Bonham Carter portrayed her role, that freak Death Eater only knows how to kill nor to serve only his master without any doubts and hesitations.

P.S. Hey readers make sure you tune in later for all the info on the new Potter's Army design, and another post! So, two more post tonight! :D
